Field Trips

Within minutes of Denver, there awaits a real farm experience for inquiring young minds. As an actual working farm, May Farms offers an enjoyable educational experience for children of all ages.

What could be a better learning experience than spending a few hours on a farm in the country, breathing in the fresh country air? Imagine the new sounds and experiences your students will encounter.

May Farms is a working educational farm providing programs about agriculture and the environment. Students experience the rich and diverse life of a Colorado farm by working, learning, smelling and feeling the experience. Programs are based on a “hands-on” approach that teaches in a meaningful and lasting way.

We want your students to leave the farm with experiences which are authentic and knowledge that can be applied to everyday living.  Each teacher will receive an age-appropriate educational kit so the field trip learning can extend to the classroom.

Teachers will receive a packet of educational and fun filled farm related activities and facts that may be applied to classroom curriculum as well as everyday living.

During your field trip be prepared to learn about farm animals, see crops up close and participate in hands-on activities associated with everyday farm life. Students can dig in the field and plant various seeds to take home in the spring and summer. During fall field trips students can pick pumpkins growing on the vine. Your class can visit twice a year and experience two different field trips!

* look and learn about all of our different barnyard animals! Goats, sheep, cows, chickens and more!

* tractor pulled tour of the farm on barrel train or hay ride getting an up close view of the farm and the crops!

* old fashioned cooperative games demonstrating the use of renewable energy.

*plant your own garden at home! Start with a seed you planted in a cup at May Farms!
